Nodar Kereselidze met with the representatives of the DTRA

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze met with the Deputy Head of the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).The participants stressed that, laboratory research bases will be established and equipped with modern material-technical base and employee performance and qualifications will be improved under the US support to Georgia. At the meeting, Nodar Kereselidze underlined the importance of the projects implemented to improve laboratory network, food safety efficiency, epizootic goodwill, plant protection and phyto-sanitary fields in the country. Under the frame of the future cooperation with two sides, the issues related to the construction of freezer rooms for vaccine storage, conducting simulation exercises in transcaucasian area, providing  National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) as well as  identification and registration system in West side of Georgia was discussed.

The sides also touched upon the issues of creating a steering committee to build a direct communication with the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), who also referred to the conference, which will be organized by the World Organization for Animal Health in Georgia and discussed financial support issues in this regard.

The Deputy Minister Yuri Nozadze, Head of the Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irakli Guledani and Head of the National Food Agency, Zurab Chekurashvili attended the meeting.
