Geneva hosted the 12th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the ‘’Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents’’ of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

During the High-Level conference, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili assessed the achievements and challenges in the environmental field of Georgia. 

Mr. Pavliashvili presented a report on the effective risk management of industrial accidents triggered by natural hazards.

Within the framework of the official visit to Geneva, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture held a meeting with the representatives of the Secretariat of the Convention on "Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents" and the United Nations Economic Council.

The parties agreed to implement the technical mission in Georgia, before starting preparation activities for  the ratification of the Convention. The above mentioned process includes a correct assessment of the current situation in the country.  Moreover, in close cooperation with the Secretariat of the Convention and the UN Economic Council, the Georgian side will plan and carry out specific measures that will contribute to the ratification process of the Convention.
