Another protected area - Machakhela protected landscape was created in Georgia

Machakhela protected landscape, with a total area covering 4294 hectares, is located in Khelvachauri Municipality.
 

The purpose of creating the said protected area is to protect the natural-cultural landscape in the Machakhela valley formed due to the harmonious coexistence and relation between humans and nature.


 
The protected landscape will contribute to preserving traditional agricultural practices and implementing recreational and tourist activities, which will positively impact the local population's socio-economic condition.
 


The protected landscape of Machakhela was established with the financial support of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Khelvachauri Municipality, the local population of Machakhali Valley and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
