On the program "Business Partner," Georgian Public Broadcaster (1st Channel), the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia summed up the activities taken by the Ministry in 2022.

Mr. Otar Shamugia emphasized the results achieved in the agricultural and environmental protection areas, also plans, and challenges faced by the respective fields.

"Two days ago, the Prime Minister of Georgia presented a report to the public, where he spoke extensively about the important results and achievements in several directions, including the large-scale plans we intend to implement. The double-digit economic growth that we currently have, and have been maintaining for the last two years allows us to implement new projects that will bring more prosperity to our population. The respective projects embrace issues concerning agricultural development, caring for and protecting the environment" said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

The Minister stated that since 2013, the government has announced agricultural development as a priority area and started gradually implementing relevant projects.

" Firstly, the overall goal of these projects is to support our farmers and improve access to financial resources for our entrepreneurs. Also, provide opportunities to adopt modern technologies, plant new gardens, buy new equipment, etc," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

The Minister emphasized the current results obtained in the primary production.

"It is important to note that output in the agricultural primary production sector has increased by almost 80-85% over the last ten years. According to the last year's data, we had an increase from 3 billion 600 million to approximately GEL 6.5 billion; As for the processed products, we had an increase from 4 billion to approximately GEL 7.3 billion.
This year, according to the data from the past nine months, we have GEL 5.5 billion output in primary agricultural production, which is an increase of approximately 13-14% compared to the same period of the previous year. I believe that we will have a more improved indicator by the end of the year. Herewith, I will touch upon the export data, where we showed a significant increase, approximately 125-130% growth patterns, and this year, for the first time, we will have an export figure of approximately USD 1.3 billion", - noted Mr. Otar Shamugia.
