'' Tbilisi Tea Festival"

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili opened Tea and Honey International Festival in Mtatsminda Park, which was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture together with the Tea Producers Association and Mtatsminda Park.
The main objective of the festival is to encourage economic growth in tourism, to implement joint economic regional projects, support of local medium and small scale producers, popularization of natural tea among consumers and sell products at the domestic market.
" Today, tea and honey are displayed for visitors and consumers, tea importers also take part in the festival. The festival is currently progressing well, new companies are emerging and existing ones are fast growing each year. The role of similar events is great in preserving and further developing traditional cultures, which consequently contributes to the revival of tea sector in the region- "Giorgi Khanishvili said.
The President of Tea Producers Association, Tengiz Svanidze underlined the importance of the festival and noted, that since 2005 he has engaged many participants to take part in similar events, which promote the popularization of the tea sector.  
About 10 Georgian companies and foreign producers participated in the festival. The festival presented unique types of tea and honey.
The Members of Parliament and Georgian Government, as well as representatives of embassies accredited in Georgia took part in "Tbilisi Tea Festival.
