The issues adresing international experience in sustainable forest management have been discussed at the meeting

The high rank officials discussed issues related to the exchange of European experience in Forest Information and Monitoring System. The meeting held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture was organized under the frame of the European Union Twinning project "Strengthening Sustainable Management of Forests in Georgia" .
The Deputy Minister, Solomon Pavliashvili brought forward issues related to the development of the forest monitoring models in the country, he stressed the importance of the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) engagement in the project and GIZ financial support in planning national inventory process.
In order to get familiar with the models of forest information and monitoring systems in Europe Lithuanian, Hungarian, Slovak, German and German experts presented examples and cases of their countries.
"Forest Information and Monitoring System is one of the most important tools to make effective decision-making and efficient planning in the forest sector. It is very important for us to share international experience in sustainable forest management system and I would like to thank representatives of diplomatic corps and foreign experts involved in the project for their cooperation and willingness to share their experience with Georgian partners " - said Solomon Pavliashvili.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia Giedrius Puodžiūnas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Georgia Victoria Horvath, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Georgia Rudolf Michalka, Carlo Amirgulashvili, Head of Biodiversity and Forest Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, representatives of the NGOs and other representatives of the Ministry attended the meeting.
