“Fruit Festival 2019” held in the village Chumlakhi
Fruit Festival 2019 was held in the village Chumlaki, Gurjaani municipality. The event aims to promote horticulture sector in Kakheti region and support farmers and entrepreneurs employed in the above mentioned field. Local farmers, members of agricultural cooperatives and representatives of business sector willingly participated in the festival.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili along with the State Attorney – Governor in Kakheti region, Irakli Kadagishvili participated in the event. The officials have seen the displayed products, held conversation with participant farmers and provided them with the information on the achievements and challenges faced by the agrarian field in the region.
“ The Peach and Nectarine harvest has been successfully conducted over the last two years. Last year, more than 12,000 tons of products were exported and we observe the similar figure this year as well. As a result of the implementation of proper state policy and joint work carried out by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture together with the regional administration and self-government bodies, 9 cold storage facilities were opened in the village Chumlaki to promote the agricultural field. With regard to the festival, we should note, that similar events boost popularization of the region, local production and facilitate to further enhance cooperation between farmers and entrepreneurs " Solomon Pavliashvili said.
The festival guests had an opportunity to taste and buy local seasonal fruits and drinks made from natural juices as well as alcoholic and mineral drinks.
“Fruit Festival 2019” was initiated by the Administration of the State Attorney and organized with the support of Gurjaani Municipality, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and Destination Management Organization ‘’Visit Kakheti’’
