Meeting with the residents of Borjomi Municipality
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze together with the Governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti region, Besik Amiranashvili, MP of Akhaltsikhe and Adigeni municipalities, Giorgi Kopadze and Chairman of the Sports and Youth Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Mikhail Khavelashvili held meetings with the residents of Bakurani and Tsaghveri resort villages Mzetamze and Timotesubani.
Local residents informed government officials about their needs and problems related to the arrangement of irrigation system, provision of drinking water, natural gas and timber resources, rehabilitation of roads and roads that run through pastures. The representatives of the central and local authorities discussed ways to solve existing problems together with the local residents.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Yuri Nozadze provided detailed account of rural and agricultural development programs / projects implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and underlined the results achieved under the projects.
“Today we have met with the local population and discussed drinking water supply and construction of sewage systems related problems, which were identified as basic needs and most important issues facing Georgian villages. All aforementioned will be taken into consideration when creating budget for the next year. We have also underlined issues related to the allocation of a specified area of forest for firewood supply and consumption. However, with the help of the regional forestry staff, the National Forestry Agency simplified wood harvesting process for local residents and enabled legal logging of firewood in the allocated specified forest area. It should be noted, that meetings with local residents allowed us to get familiar with their needs and problems to further include these issues in the rural development projects ”Yuri Nozadze said.
The representatives of central and local government hold similar meetings in other municipalities as well.
