Levan Davitashvili: " Trade turnover of wine /spirits to increase with the EU and US is of utmost importance for us"

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia,  Levan Davitashvili together with the representatives of US and French state agencies and business communities got acquainted with the ongoing grape harvest in Kakheti region. The members of the delegations held visit to Georgia at the invitation of Georgian Wine and spirits production company  Bolero & Company.

‘’It’s very important for us to increase the trade turnover of wine with the EU countries. Especially with France, which sets the highest quality standards for grape origin spirits. Wine and spirits holding Bolero & Company has signed a very important contract, which provides several thousand tons of alcohol export by the end of the year in France"

As for the US, we actively cooperate with the US over the years to create and increase brand awareness in the market. As a result, at present, the US market is in the list of top ten export countries, although our ambition and desire is the US market to become one of the top export markets” Levan Davitashvili said.
Bolero & Company, as well as French company Tessendier & Fils, have signed a 25-year cooperation memorandum. The memorandum of cooperation was signed with the several large US alcohol manufacturer companies as well, which envisages the creation of a Georgian-American brand and the sale of Georgian products in the US market.

The US delegation includes members of the Texas House of Representatives, members of the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Vice President of Texas Economic Development Council and representatives of the wine making industry, while the French delegation is represented by the deputies of the French National Assembly. 

During the two-day visit, the members of the US and French delegations will familiarize themselves with the 8,000-year history of Georgian wine and wine making traditions. The guests’ will visit the National Museum of Georgia, LTD Wine Laboratory, and demonstration base of Georgian grape varieties   and perennial crops of the Agricultural Scientific-Research Centre in the village Jighaura and ’’Tsinandali Edem’’.
