Minister of Environmental Protection ad Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili hosted the President of the International Organization CNFA, Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture, Sylvain Roy

The two sides discussed plans for future cooperation. The projects implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in recent years, as well as results achieved within the projects has been brought forward by the Minister at the meeting, who also provided guest with the state co-financing program for agricultural technique, which allows farmers to have an access to the finances to purchase agricultural machinery. Levan Davitashvili noted, that he welcomes the best quality American agricultural machinery - John Deere production to Georgia, which manufactures agricultural, construction, and forestry machinery. John Deere will provide small and medium farmers with the necessary equipment to cultivate the large agricultural land areas.

The Minister outlined the positive results achieved through measures taken against the Asian stink bug, which was widely spread in Georgia. Moreover, Levan Davitashvili thanked the representatives of the USAID for their active support and noted, that,  as a result of the activities taken against the invasive pests, the quantitative and qualitative indicators of the hazelnut crop, as well as export was significantly increased in the country.

Levan Davitashvili underlined the disaster risk reduction in the agricultural sector as one of the priority issues for the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. The President of the CNFA, Sylvain Roy stated, that CNFA is ready to support ongoing agricultural projects, promote agricultural development in Georgia and expressed his willingness to further strengthen the cooperation with Georgian side.Â
