The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Khatia Tsilosani held a meeting with the Head of Grape Vintage Coordination Center in Telavi, Levan Mekhuzla
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Khatia Tsilosani met with the Head of Grape Vintage Coordination Center in Telavi, Levan Mekhuzla to get acquainted with the ongoing grape harvest and grape processing related issues.
Grape harvest season picks up in Kakheti region, according to the data of September 22, the volume of industrially processed grape reached approximately 110,000 tonnes.
t’s noteworthy, that grape vintage coordination center manages traffic flow of grape loaded lorries to ensure, that grape growers do not face problems in delivering their grapes and grape harvest is conducted in an organized manner.
According to Khatia Tsilosani, grape vintage is underway in Kakheti region, Georgian government has a social responsibility and makes best endeavors to conduct the grape harvest successfully and helps grape growers and producers not to face problems in delivering and selling their grapes”.
The Deputy Minister held meetings with the women winemakers in the village Kurdghelauri and got familiar with their future plans on wine production and export markets. The Deputy Minister wished winemakers success in their future endeavors and noted, that winemakers are becoming more and more successful each year and they give a good example to young people.
“The Ministry undertakes important activities to promote Georgian products in the international markets. I am pleased, that high quality wines produced in Georgian small wine cellars are establishing place on the international market. The state will further continue to actively support the development of small cellars and promote agricultural products”said Khatia Tsilosani.
The Deputy Minister visited the vineyard of the winemaker, Ketevan Aladashvili and participated in the grape vintage.
In 2017, Ketevan Aladashvili started producing wine under the brand ‘’Kate Wine’’. The winemaker produces about 900 tons of wine within the year. At this stage, wine is made from Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Kisi and Kakhetian Green grape varieties. ‘’Kate Wine’’ wines have won numerous awards at the international exhibitions. The products are sold in the local market as well as in Poland.
