Perspectives of cooperation between Georgia and Canada in the Agricultural and Environmental Protection Fields

 The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani hosted Regional Director of Business Development and Sales at the Canadian Commercial Corporation in the Middle East, Michael Sessford.

At the meeting the sides discussed prospects of future cooperation and drew their attention to the projects related to the monitoring of natural disasters and environmental problems, agricultural land management and monitoring, projects to support the development of the agricultural production, including dairy production, cereal crops, aquaculture and livestock fields.

Michael Sessford noted, that he takes responsibility for developing new business opportunities for Canadian trade in the Middle East and expressed his wish to implement projects in the agricultural and environmental fields in Georgia.

Khatia Tsilosani set focus on Georgia as the homeland of wine and discussed export potential of Georgian wines and spirits and possibilities of Georgian wine export  in Canadian market.

The Deputy Minister underlined the importance of sustainable forest management in the country and informed the guest about reforms implemented in the forestry sector and new Forest Code.

According to Michael Sessford, Georgia is a strategic partner for Canada, which has great potential to grow trade opportunities with other countries.
