Grape harvest season is in full swing in Kakheti region

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Solomon Pavliashvili visited Kakheti region ,where he got acquainted with the ongoing grape harvest process and related activities, including storing of grapes.

The Deputy Minister together with the Head of the grape vintage coordination center, Levan Mekhuzla visited the wineries in Gurjaani Municipality, where grape harvesting activities are underway.
As of September 25, about 145,000 tons of grapes are processed in Kakheti region. The day/night indicator shows 10-12 thousand tons of processed grape . Moreover, the number of trucks loaded with grape has increased, standing and waiting in queues nearby enterprises. Out of processed grapes, 92,000 tons are Rkatsiteli, 72% is purchased by company ''Akura'' under the frame of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
 “ Grape harvest season has reached its peak; Consequently, the number of trucks loaded with grapes has been increased. The grape delivery process goes smoothly. It is important, that private sector is engaged in the grape harvest process, we all of us have responsiblility to conduct the harvest in an organized manner similar to previous years ”said Solomon Pavliashvili.

At this stage, about 300 wine companies are registered at the grape harvest coordinating center. Interested parties can obtain grape vintage related information at the hotline – 1501 of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
