Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia hosted the FAO Permanent Representatives

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the Permanent Representatives of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), including the representative of FAO in Georgia, Mr. Raimund Jehle and Permanent Representatives of FAO in the EU, US, Brazil, Eritrea, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.

At the meeting, Levan Davitashvili thanked the members of the delegation for their interest in the agrarian development of the country and underlined the importance of FAO's support and involvement in the agricultural development activities in Georgia.

 “I would like to express my gratitude to Raimund Jehle. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization is a leading partner of our Ministry. We are implementing a number of important projects with the support of FAO. Our partnership is outstanding and I believe, that effective and fruitful cooperation between Georgia and FAO will be continued in the future as well ”said Levan Davitashvili.

At the meeting, the Minister outlined the importance of the Association Agreement signed between Georgia and the EU and drew his attention to the fulfillment of obligations undertaken by Georgia.

The members of the delegation noted, that Georgia has made a significant progress in terms of agricultural development and reaffirmed United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s support to Georgia.

The representative of FAO to Georgia, Mamuka Meskhi and officials of the Ministry attended the meeting.
