The draft Law on the control of industrial emissions of Georgia to discuss at the workshop

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Nino Tandilashvili and Chairman of the Committee on Environment Protection and Natural Resources, Kakha Kuchava opened the workshop, whereby, participants discussed issues related to the draft Law on the control of industrial emissions of Georgia. The event was held in Borjomi Municipality.

Nino Tandilashvili outlined the importance of the Draft Law and drew her attention to the the rules issued for integrated permits for industrial activities and control mechanisms. The Deputy Minister thanked donor organizations for their support in developing the bill.

According to Kakha Kuchava, the bill aims to prevent, reduce and control emissions of ambient air, water and soil caused by industrial activities.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) along with the Swedish Government organized and supported the meeting, which was attended by the representatives of the Parliament of Georgia, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Business Ombudsman and other relevant state agencies.
