Representatives of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization held a visit to wine company in Kakheti region
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani and members of the Permanent Representatives of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) got acquainted with the ongoing grape vintage process in Kakheti region.
Almost a century old ‘’Telavi Wine Cellar’’ regarded as one of the most successful wine companies in Georgia hosted the representatives of FAO. The founder of the company, Zurab Ramazashvili introduced the guests with the stages of grapewine making process, including grape processing.
“The delegation comprised of the representatives of different countries expressed a deep interest in the wine making process and grape vintage in Georgia. The grape vintage has reached its peak season in Kakheti region, therefore, we decided to take visitors in Kakheti and to provide them with an opportunity to see and taste the high quality Georgian wine, as well as wine making process ” Khatia Tsilosani said.
The delegation included the representative of FAO to Georgia, Raimond Jehle and permanent representatives of the EU, US, Brazil, Eritrea, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Raimond Jehle noted, that Georgian wine, especially Qvevri wine is a versatile in its taste characteristics and ranked it among best quality wines.
