GEL 317 million is allocated in the state budget for the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, which means a 3 percent increase in the budget funds compared to 2019
“The Ministry continues systemic development in accordance with the strategy embracing both environmental and agricultural directions. In 2020, as well as in recent years, we support private initiatives of our citizens, farmers and prioritize their needs.Our agricultural development policy undertakes private initiatives to improve the economic situation in rural areas. Furthermore, the funding for Rural Development Programs is increased by 36 % in 2020 compared to 2019 , thereby, we kept promise to provide an access to cheap financial resourses for rural residents and farmers and preferential agro-credit program will be further continued. We have maintained significant grant co-financing programs, which are quite popular, brings positive results and will further facilitate to the development of agricultural sector; Moreover, agricultural support program ‘’Plant the Future’’ for perennial crops will be continued along with a number of subprojects related to berries and development of priority crops, that have export potential in the domestic market. We maintain and continue co-financing programs for storing and processing enterprises to increase employment and incomes in rural areas. The budget is also increased in the field of agro insurance, which is targeted at risk prevention and reduction in agriculture” declared the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili at the government meeting.
