Modern Regional Office of the National Food Agency to open in Sachkhere Municipality, Imereti region
The modern office equipped with all necessary equipment and techniques, also includes an agricultural laboratory, where relevant research will be conducted.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili opened the event together with the Prime Minister's Advisor on Regional Development Issus, Sozar Subari and State Representative in the Imereti Region Zviad Shalamberidze.
Levan Davitashvili noted, that appropriate infrastructure to arrange in the regions will further help to meet existing challenges and protect consumers interests and health.
“The residents of Sachkhere Municipality can enjoy faster response and higher standards of service. Actually, modern offices of the National Food Agency operate in all regional centers across the country. Moreover, we started developing new infrastructure at the municipal level, where along with the Food Service, we also established a laboratory.
‘’The opening of modern offices is very important, especially to overcome challenges we face in the fields of food safety, plant and animal diseases. Furthermore, we should increase public awareness about new regulations and conduct regular meetings to establish close communication with the local residents and farmers, that will help to increase their awareness on the new regulations implemented by the Ministry in the fields of environmental protection and agriculture. Therefore, we will definitely afford the implementation of the regulations to make as painless a process as possible, that will ultimately lead to increase agricultural competitiveness in the country ”said Levan Davitashvili.
The Minister together with the guests visited specialized techniques of the National Food Agency and met with the employees of Sachkhere Regional Service.
It is noteworthy, that National Food Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia carries out state control on food safety, vaccination of various diseases for animal health protection, also protection of agricultural crops from invasive pests, certification of export products.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze, Head of the National Food Agency, Zurab Chekurashvili, Head of Agricultural Laboratory of the Ministry, Irakli Guledani, Sachkhere Majoritarian MP in Sachkhere, Paata Kvizhinadze as well as representatives of local authorities attended the opening event.
This year, a new office of the National Food Agency has already opened in Abasha municipality. The opening of modern offices is planned in Poti and Mestia as well.
