Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili hosted the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Sebastian Molineus

Levan Davitashvili  met with the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Sebastian Molineus.

At the meeting the sides discussed projects implemented by the World Bank in the fields of agriculture and environmental protection and discussed opportunities to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the above mentioned fields.

Levan Davitashvili outlined the importance of irrigation infrastructure projects and noted, that in recent years, agricultural irrigated land area has almost tripled in Georgia.

The Minister has been focused on the current state of the forestry sector in Georgia and drew his attention to the development of a new Forest Code, which will enable to improve biodiversity conservation and protection of natural resources of forests in Georgia.

The representative of the World Bank brought forward environmental challenges and expressed interest in the need to get additional funding from the World Bank to Georgia.
Sebastian Molineus pledged full support to overcome challenges facing agricultural and environmental fields in Georgia.

The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani and Yuri Nozadze, Program Leader for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure in South Caucasus, Abdulaziz Faghi and representatives of relevant agencies of the Ministry attended the meeting.
