Levan Davitashvili hosted the Ambassador of Japan

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to Georgia, Tadaharu Uehara. At the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to the Georgian wine export to Japan. 
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture outlined the importance of diversification of export markets and noted, that Japan is a promising and interesting market for Georgian wine. 

 “The interest in Georgian wines has been increasing in Asian markets in recent years. The Ministry is actively engaged in the marketing campaigns in the target countries, which are recommended under the market diversification strategy, including Japan. This year, the large-scale exhibition "Georgia Homeland of Wine" was held in Tokyo, where, wine experts expressed interest in Georgian wines, especially in Qvevri wines. The ratings are also very positive. Ultimately, we strive to increase awareness of Georgian wine export to the Japanese market to the greatest degree "Levan Davitashvili said.

The Japanese Ambassador to Georgia Tadaharu Uehara outlined the uniqueness of Georgian wine.
 “We are ready to support Georgian side and increase export of unique Georgian wine to Japan. We strive to achieve a positive result, therefore, we should hold a working meeting, where we will jointly discuss all issues that are important to boost the popularization of Georgian wine in the Japanese market, including wine made by the small cellars, as well as produced by large companies ”the Japanese ambassador said.

At the meeting, the sides discussed future cooperation issues, embracing different agricultural fields, including to cooperate in the area of fire safety and prevention.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani attended the meeting.
