New tech equipment provided to the Department of Environmental Supervision

The provision of new tech equipment to the Department of Environmental Supervision was held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The technical support provided to the regional divisions included 65 new pickup trucks and 2 buggy cars.  The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Minister, Yuri Nozadze and the Head of Environmental Supervision Department, Irakli Mukniashvili attended the event.

"Environmental Supervision Department strengthened its capacities and this process will be further continued. The number of patrol crews has almost tripled across the country. Environmental patrols and rapid response staff have all technical means they need to perform their duties properly ”said Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection  and Agriculture.
New Ford Rangers equipped with "GPS" devices are considered as a competitive off-road explorers, allowing patrolling in difficult access areas, however, as for inaccessible areas, the department staff will use buggs.

The full range of environmental patrol and emergency response crews, including surveillance cameras, shock-resistant pads, field laptops, handheld computers - so-called devices and night vision binoculars were presented at the event.

The Head of the Department of Environmental Supervision, Irakli Mukniashvili noted, that department has enhanced its human and technical capacities, which enables to provide a timely and effective response to each case, moreover, environmental supervision department has offices operating in all municipalities across of the country.
Prior to the delivery of the new equipment, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the environmental patrol and emergency responders, who received physical injuries from law violators.

 “Unfortunately, there are cases of physical attacks and violence on the staff of the Supervision Department. The relevant authorities will respond to all incidents. The perpetrators will be convicted under the different modes of liability. In our country, no one should cause a certain amount of harm to law enforcers, people who perform their duties ”the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture said.

Since 2018, in the course of their  duties, law offenders inflicted physical injuries to 13 employees of the Department of Environmental Supervision. The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture awarded the injured employees with certificates of appreciation.
