Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili hosted the Governmental Delegation of Upper Austria

The Austrian delegation was headed by the Minister of Agriculture of Upper Austria, Max Hiegelsberger. The issues related to future cooperation have been discussed by  two sides.

At the meeting the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the parties to further deepen the relations in the fields of agriculture.

 “I am very pleased to host Austrian friends in Georgia and would like to express my gratitude for their support to our country and for the implementation of a number of important programs. Within the frame of the Memorandum, we will further deepen our cooperation including sharing experience and knowledge and implementing agricultural field activities. We look forward to a close and successful cooperation ”Levan Davitashvili said.
Within the frame of the memorandum, Austrian specialists will share their knowledge with Georgian counterparts in the fields of introduction and testing of new varieties of cereal crops in Georgia, as well as development of agrotourism. The cooperation between the two parties will be further strengthened to increase the production and productivity of cereal crops, facilitate to the development of agricultural seeds, animal health protection, sustainable forest and mountain management and sectoral education.
The Minister of Agriculture of Upper Austria noted, that Georgia is a European country and has a lot in common with Austria.

 “Today we are in Georgia and we would like to confirm our support to Georgian side in a number of areas. Our countries have a lot in common, including running small farms. It should be noted, that, the first memorandum for cooperation is signed between our countries in the field of agriculture, which will enable us to successfully cooperate in the fields of education, agrotourism and biomass production "- said Max Heigelsberger.

After the bilateral meeting, Levan Davitashvili and Max Heigelsberger answered all questions posed by the Austrian journalists'.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Georgia, Arad Benkö, Head of the Austrian Development Agency Gerhard Schaumberger, Head of Austrian Development Agency , Deputy Ministers Yuri Nozadze, Khatia Tsilosani and representatives of the relevant departments attended the meeting.
