Levan Davitashvili hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Georgia, Gheorghe Leuca

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Georgia, Gheorghe Leuca. At the meeting, the sides have been focused on issues regarding possible cooperation in the fields of agriculture and environmental protection.
Levan Davitashvili spoke about the reforms implemented in Georgia to support the development of viticulture and winemaking field in Georgia, whereby, he underlined the importance of regulations implemented in the winery field, regarding, vineyard cadastre programs and protection of appellations of origin and geographical indications.

At the meeting, the Minister set focus on the Association Agreement with the European Union and the EU support to Georgia in the implementation of reforms in the fields of agriculture and environment.

“The European Union is Georgia's most important partner. We have made a significant progress in terms of approximation with the EU legislation and effective implementation of EU regulations and directives ”said Levan Davitashvili.

The sides discussed opportunities to share Georgia’s experience to Moldova in the fields of viticulture, winemaking, grain corn breeding, agricultural research, as well as issues related to the use of renewable energy sources and integrated management of water resources.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova, Gheorghe Leuca expressed  his approval to the results achieved by Georgia in the agricultural and environmental fields and expressed willingness to implement joint projects and continue close cooperation with Georgian side.
