Levan Davitashvili attended the olive harvesting and processing related activities in village Sakobo, Sighnaghi district

The olive orchards and processing plant was created with the support of the Dutch-Turkish investment and the state-funded project "Co-financing agricultural processing plants". 800 people are employed in the enterprise, whereby,  total number of investments amounts to GEL 5 million. The orchard is planted on more than 1,000 hectares;

The orchard area is planned to increase by two times with the support of the company Kakhetsian Traditional Farming.
Olive enterprise is equipped with modern technologies, which enables to produce high quality competitive Georgian products. The cold process is used to make olive oil and soap which are the main products of the company, sold locally and internationally as well.

“ The popularity of olive oil is gradually increasing worldwide, along with the growing demand for healthy nutrition. This product has a great export potential. Under the project Plant the Future, the olive plantations have already been planted in Georgia. I believe, that fruit farming will be further developed and olive crops will greatly contribute to the development of fruit production  and farming in Georgia "Levan Davitashvili said.

It is noteworthy, that Georgia will join the International Olive Council in accordance with the decision made at the International Olive Council meeting in Marrakech this year. Moreover, in 2020, Georgia will be a chair country of the International Olive Council and Tbilisi will host the event.
