Nino Tandilashvili participated in the campaign of planting trees

Within the frame of the UN Week (17-24 October), the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Nino Tandilashvili together with UN staff, Tbilisi City Council and City Hall members and schoolchildren participated in the tree planting campaign.

 “Within the week, the planting action supported by UNDP and Tbilisi City Hall was held in Varketili # 3 micro-region. It is important to hold similar events, as it increases awareness among young people about the importance of green recreation areas, and besides it is a step forward in improving the air quality and ecological status of our city ”said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili.

A number of environmental events were held throughout the country within the frame of the UN Week. A total of 550 trees were planted in Tbilisi.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Georgia Sabine Machl, Tbilisi City Council Chairman Giorgi Tkemaladze and Samgori Majoritarian MP Revaz Sokhadze participated in the tree planting action.
