Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili held a visit to Vakhtang Jikhvadze’s Family Cellar in the town Baghdati, whereby he met with local winemakers and informed them about the initiative targeted at the full-scale rehabilitation of Tskaltubo resort to promote the development of agro tourism in the region and highlighted projects planned by the Ministry to implement in Imereti region.

 “ The popularity of wine tourism is gradually increasing in the country. The large-scale project is launched in Imereti region, which includes the development of Abastumani-Tskaltubo resorts as well, with regard to town Baghdati, considering its remarkable winemaking culture and high quality wines, it will consequently become an important tourist destination and location placed on well-traveled routes ” the Minister said .

Levan Davitashvili set focus on the development of wine cellars and guesthouses in town Baghdati and drew his attention to the economic importance and benefits that local population will enjoy afterwards.

“We believe, that there is a substantial potential for the development of ecotourism, as well as agrotourism in the region, that will gradually attract more and more visitors, specifically, Ajameti Managed Reserve well-known with its ancient, unique oak trees and many caves, including its surrounding area, whereby tourist route connects Abastumani with Tskaltubo soon will become the best places to visit  "Levan Davitashvili said.
