Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Georgia, Antonio Bartoli and President of the largest international exhibition center ‘’Cesena Fiera’’, Renzo Piraccini.

New exhibition of fresh, unfrozen fruit and vegetables held annually in Rimini, Italy, hosting 43,000 visitors and providing producers with an opportunity to find markets across the world.

At the meeting, Levan Davitashvili outlined the importance and potential of agricultural sector, with the main focus on Georgia as a country with the oldest agricultural traditions.

The Minister gave a detailed account of the state-funded project “Plant the Future” targeted at the cultivation of perennial orchards and creation of nursery farms across the country and noted,  that competitive fruit and vegetable production is significantly increasing,  therefore, support for farmers in finding new export markets is one of the top priorities for Georgian Government.

“Participating in a scale exhibition like Macfrut gives our farmers an opportunity to enter their products in other countries markets across the world. From this point, we welcome to the  initiative of the Exhibition President to provide a support for Georgian producers and distributors in case they are actively engaged in the exhibition " Levan Davitashvili said.
