Under the open meetings, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with the local population of Ambrolauri, Racha region

The Head of the Regional Development Service of Governmental Administration, Sozar Subari, Governor of Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti, Archil Japaridze, heads of local self-government attended the meeting. Government officials informed population on the current and planned projects and got acquainted with their needs.

The residents named timber extraction, non-commercial use of sand and gravel as their main needs, especially an access to natural resources. Levan Davitashvili informed population about amendments made to the Forest Code and noted, that their needs were taken into consideration to the greatest extent.

 “Similar meetings enables us to better understand the needs facing the regions and make some corrections in the legal documents, state projects and activities.
Some remarks made by the local population have already been included in the regulatory documents and taken into account at the legislative level. These are issues related to the forest use and extraction of natural resources that have already been initiated and the government will adopt them in the nearest future ” the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture said.

Within the frame of the open dialogue with the Georgian residents, 203 meetings were held in 253 villages of Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti region.
