Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili attended a conference dedicated to the circular economy

Under  the project "Keep Georgia Clean", a conference dedicated to the circular economy was held. The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili attended a conference.

“ A number of components included in the existing economic system should be changed immediately in order to move to a circular economy. All government agencies, businesses, academia, investors and consumers at all levels should make contributions in this process and facilitate to the implementation of this system ”said Solomon Pavliashvili.

As was noted, the application of circular economy approaches will help to reduce waste in the country, reduce the impact of hazardous substances and mitigate the climate change.

Circular economy is an economic system where natural resources are used efficiently, the cost of materials and products is maintained through their circular consumption and the harmful effects of economic activity on the environment and human health are gradually reduced.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Nino Tsilosani, the Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia Eric Illes, the member of the UN Circular Economy Council, Dariush Edward Prasek, and representatives of other governmental and non-governmental organizations attended the conference.
