Greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere reached an unprecedented level worldwide

According to a report made by the World Meteorological Organization, the concentration of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere has reached an alarming rate. The above mentioned issues were discussed at the 25th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Madrid, Spain.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili participated in the conference.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on countries to step up action to mitigate climate change, noting that the last five years have been record-breaking, accompanied by an increase in natural disasters, droughts and fires.

The leaders, experts, senior officials from the private and scientific sectors attended the conference. Georgian delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili.

During her visit to Spain, Nino Tondilashvili met with the representatives of the Green Climate Fund, whereby  possibilities of strengthening cooperation between Georgia and the Fund and financing projects strategic for Georgia have been discussed by two sides.

Georgia became a party to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1994 ,  since then it has been actively engaged in the activities, mechanisms taken under the Convention and negotiation process.
