The conference ‘’ Soils in Georgia in the context of the World Soils ‘’ held at the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences

The soil degradation related issues as well as measures to protect and prevent soil erosion have been brought forward by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili at the conference.

“ Protection and preservation of soil fertility is one of the crucial issues facing the country, moreover,  sustainable use of soil is a major reserve for agricultural development and economic growth of the country and a precondition for living in a sustainable environment. Therefore, land degradation is not only an environmental but also a social and economic problem in Georgia  ”Solomon Pavliashvili said at the meeting.

The Members of the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences discussed issues related to the effective soil fertility management, soil protection, current state and problems in the process of  formation and functioning of land market. 

The representatives of relevant agencies of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, members of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and professors of Georgian Technical University attended the conference.
