The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili attended the summary meeting of the legislative package on Extended Producer Responsibility  (EPR).

The Waste management approaches have significantly changed in Georgia in recent years. After the new regulations come into force, some adjustments will be made to the document in case of necessity. However, we tried our best to take into consideration opinions of all stakeholders - the state, self-government and business " Levan Davitashvili said.

The introduction of the principle of  extended producer responsibilty addresses management of the following specific waste including, packaging waste, electrical and electronic equipment, used oils, accumulators and batteries, tires and other vehicles .

It should be noted, that National Waste Management Strategy and National Action Plan have been developed at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
