At the 39th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Bern Convention on Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats in Strasbourg, the Head of the Biodiversity and Forestry Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Carl Amirgulashvili was elected as a Bureau member of the Convention!

Seven territories nominated by Georgia were approved at the 39th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Bern Convention on Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats in Strasbourg, at present, Georgia’s Emerald Network is comprised of 58 territories , with a total area covering 1 285 974 hectares.

The Bern Convention is one of the most important conventions targeted at the environmental field. The Emerald Network was created and is being developed in Georgia to implement the Convention and obligations taken under the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union.
