The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) prepared in consideration of the changes, that will be implemented on the Construction of Kvemo Namakhvani HPP Project was discussed at the public meeting

The Public meeting was held in Tskaltubo Municipality, where participants discussed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)  prepared in consideration of the changes, that will be implemented on the Construction of Kvemo Namakhvani HPP Project. The information on the planned project has been disseminated in accordance with its legislative dissemination mandate.

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Economic and Sustainable Development David Tvalabeishvili, Imereti governor, Zviad Shalamberidze, representatives of  a construction company "ENKA", local authorities, non-governmental organizations, local residents and other interested persons attended the meeting.

The possible impact of Kvemo Namakhvani HPP infrastructure on Tskaltubo resort thermal-mineral waters was one of the crucial issues discussed at the meeting.

Considering natural-hydrological and geological conditions, Kvemo Namakhvani HPP infrastructure is not geologically linked to Tskaltubo Thermal-Mineral Waters formation area, therefore Kvemo Namakhvani HPP infrastructure will not have a negative impact on  Tskaltubo Resort.

Apart from above mentioned issues, interested parties were provided with the detailed, comprehensive information about changes that will be made to the project and on the environmental impact assessment of the project, the officials answered all questions posed by  interested parties.
