Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili together with the Deputy Minister, Khatia Tsilosani hosted the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Georgia, Enrico Valvo.

The sides outlined the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries and drew their attention to the prospects of development of cooperation in the environmental protection and agricultural field.

At the meeting, Levan Davitashvili was focused on the potential of hazelnut production in Georgia and the role of the Ferrero Company in the development of the hazelnut sector.
The importance of horticulture sector, as branch of agriculture dealing with intensively cultured and high-value crops have been brought forward by the sides, who also discussed state grant programs providing financial support to Georgian entrepreneurs.

Levan Davitashvili stated that, in 2020 , for the first time, Georgia will participate in a large scale MACFRUT International Exhibition of Plants, Technologies and Services for the Production, Conditioning, Trading and Transport of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, which will enable our farmers to introduce Georgian products to the world.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy, Enrico Valvo, expressed readiness for close cooperation with the Ministry.
