The working group was set at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture to introduce the energy efficiency system in the mountainous villages of Georgia  

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili headed the meeting, which brought together high rank officials from state agencies, including, the Advisor to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Sozar Subari, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ilia Begiashvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davit Tvalabeishvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Ekaterine Dgebuadze , Head of the State Agency of Oil and Gas of Georgia, Mikheil Shalamberidze.

Levan Davitashvili noted, that, basically, the purpose of finding alternative fuels is to reduce the pressure on natural forests and is considered  as one of the crucial issues included in the environmental policy agenda. The Minister also stated, that the country has a great potential for the production of biomass briquettes as an alternative energy source and a way for waste management.

According to Levan Davitashvili, the residents of high mountainous villages soon will have an access to briquettes through business yards. 

The Deputy Minister Yuri Nozadze and the head of the National Forestry Agency Archil Nikoleishvili attended the meeting.
