The process of fulfillment of obligations taken under the Association Agreement by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia was positively assessed in the European Commission 2019 report

The European Union has released 2019 report on the fulfillment of obligations taken under the Association Agreement.

 

The report includes political, as well as institutional reforms implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

 

According to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry's strategy and action plan targeted at the agricultural development in the long run received a positive evaluation.

 

"The report embraces positive outcomes including creation of an air portal, environmental policy, Forest Code developed by the Ministry. 

 

Georgian government has approved and is already sent to the parliament an improved version of legislation on aquaculture and fisheries, National Strategy for Food Safety and Phytosanitary which will be approved in 2020. The report positively assesses the steps taken by the government to implement the waste management and introduce the extended producer responsibility principle in the country.

 

The report includes EU support, ongoing projects of ENPARD and EU4Environment, which contribute to improve trade relations with Europe as well as relation of environmental attitudes and environmentally responsible behaviors" said Levan Davitashvili.Â
