Registration of tequila as a trademark in Georgia to discuss at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture,  Levan Davitashvili together with the Deputy Chairman of National Intellectual Property Center "Sakpatenti" held a meeting with the representatives of  Mexico's Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). At the meeting, the sides highlighted issues related to the official registration of tequila trademark in Georgia.

The delegation was headed by Miguel Angel Dominguez Morales, Chairman of the Tequila Regulatory Board.

Levan Davitashvili spoke about the cooperation between the two countries and outlined the importance of registering Tequila trademark in Georgia .

The Minister drew his attention to the harmonization of the Georgian legislation with the EU legislation and the importance of protection of intellectual property rights.
According to Miguel Angel Dominguez Morales, the recognition of the Tequila trademark by the homeland of wine is very important and it will be the basis of effective cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the members of the delegation visited National Wine Agency’s  museum, cellar and enoteca.
 

The head of the National Food Agency Zurab Chekurashvili, Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency Zurab Vacharadze and representatives of the relevant departments of the Ministry attended the meeting.
