The sixth Meeting of the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAITS) Program Supporters

The National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAITS) Program supporters held the sixth meeting at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

 

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili chaired the meeting. The Team Leader for National Animal Identification and Traceability System (NAITS) in Georgia, Dragan Angelovsky presented a report on the implemented activities, including future plans as well. 

 

Within the frame of the project National Animal Identification, Registration and Traceability System (NAITS), an action plan is created, which outlines actions to reach by 2025.

The First Deputy Minister, Giorgi Khanishvili underlined the importance of engagement and support of donor organizations in establishing National Animal Identification, Registration and Traceability System (NAITS), which promotes traceability, introduction of modern standards and increase of export potential.

 

In 2019, 785 506 head of cattle and small livestock were identified by the National Food Agency under the Animal Identification and Registration Program.

 

The representatives of the National Food Agency and donor organizations - the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) attended the meeting.
