Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture holds a workshop on strict control of atmospheric air pollution

The workshop on the strict control of atmospheric air pollution was held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture .

 

At the meeting, Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture together with the Prime Minister's Adviser on Regional Development, Sozar Subari and Business Ombudsman Mikheil Daushvili discussed issues related to the  amendments made to the Law of Georgia on Ambient Air Protection and the Code of Administrative Offenses.

 

 “We are working hard to ensure that Georgia's legislation in the field of ambient air protection is fully in line with the European law. To improve the condition  of ambient air and minimize emissions of harmful substances into the air, new regulations will be enacted and sanctions will be tightened. It is important, that enterprises are moving to modern standards and their functioning is not harmful to the environment and population ”Levan Davitashvili said.

 

The participants noted,  that it is critically important for enterprises to have a self-monitoring system for ambient air emissions, as well as filters, as the introduction of modern technologies will significantly reduce the emissions of harmful substances into the ambient air.

 

The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nino Tandilashvili and Yuri Nozadze, Deputy Head of the Department of Environmental Supervision, Neli Korkotadze attended the meeting.
