Waste Expo 2020 in Georgia

For the second time, Waste Expo 2020 was held in cooperation with the USAID / CENN Waste Management Program, American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) and Waste Management Association (WMA), bringing together 14 waste recycling and collection companies in Georgia.

 

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili  addressed the participants  noting, that Georgia has started actively to work on the development of waste management sector and has already taken important steps in this direction. The Deputy Minister set focus on the importance of the processing sector and international support’’.

 

 “The performance of waste processing companies provide the basis for the development of a circular economy . This is exactly the model that should be a priority in the development of our country ”Solomon Pavliashvili said. 

 

The exhibition opened by the President of the American Chamber of Commerce, Michael Cowgill was chaired by Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia, CEO George Welton.

 

The visitors of the exhibition got acquainted with the activities and technologies of recycling of Georgian Waste Management Association and its member companies.

 

The representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia, CENN Executive Director Nana Janashia, President of Waste Management Association President, Giorgi Guliashvili and about 60 members of the US Chamber of Commerce attended the event.
