The Second Conference on Circular Economy was held in Georgia
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Solomon Pavliashvili opened the Second Conference on Circular Economy.
Solomon Pavliashvili expressed his gratitude to the Swedish Government for their active support, noting, that the Waste Management Code, Strategy and National Plan of Georgia are fully in line with the recommendations provided by partner countries. The Deputy Minister spoke extensively about environmental policy as one of the priority issues in the country and outlined the importance of introduction of a circular economy in Georgia.

At the Conference, Dr. Dariusz Prasek –a member of the Circular Economy Advisory Board of the UN made a presentation on accelerating the transition to the circular economy in Georgia and brought forward issues, how to implement it effectively.

The participants noted, that, circular economy provides an opportunity to achieve an essential part of the UN sustainable development goals.

The conference organized by the Orchis Union of Nature Researchers of Georgia was held within the frame of the project "Keep Georgia Tidy".

The Head of the Division of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia Erik Illes and representatives of relevant agencies attended the meeting.
