The project on ‘’Strengthening Sustainable Management of Forests in Georgia’’ was discussed at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. The sustainable forest management system to establish with the support of the European Union and strengthen coordination of donor organizations in the forest sector, the need to eliminate illegal logging and replace the existing social cutting system with a more sustainable and flexible one was highlighted by participants.
Alvaro Ortega, the Environmental Program Director of the EU Delegation to Georgia, representatives of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania  as well as NGOs attended the meeting.
