Nuclear safety and security directions were discussed at the meeting

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with Katherine Han, the regional administrator of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of the United States and Peter Johnson, Director of International Atomic Energy Security Agency (IAEA).
The overall goal of the meeting was to share recommendations developed by American colleagues on the basis of the regulatory infrastructure of nuclear and radiation safety in Georgia. According to Levan Davitashvili, the LEPL Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has full support and expressed willingness to cooperate with the American side.
"We completed an official visit in the United States a few days ago. We held very interesting meetings. America is a strategic partner for us. I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your support and note, that your recommendations are very important to us.
We will take into consideration your advice, guidance and I think , that through joint work we will achieve significant results in the direction of nuclear and radiation safety in Georgia "- said Levan Davitashvili.
Katherine Han promised to give assistance to Georgia on behalf of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission and expressed her willingness for further cooperation.
The First Deputy Minister, Nodar Kereselidze and Head of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency, Vasil Gedevanishvili attended the meeting held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
