Biodiversity Finance Initiative

The project "Bio-Diversity Financial Needs Assessment (FNA) and Biodiversity Financial Plans (BFP) were discussed at the hotel "Rooms Hotel Tbilisi". The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili presented effective mechanisms for mobilizing financial resources for the maintenance of biodiversity in the country, thereby, he stressed the importance of evaluation of expenses and to spend funds reasonably.
The meeting was held within the frame of the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), which envisages global cooperation including to make decisions on funding in the field of biodiversity. The funding of biodiversity related activities is quite a problematic issue, therefore, the overall goal of the Financial Needs Assessment (FNA) is to calculate the resources necessary for implementing biodiversity strategy and action plan.
The Biodiversity Finance Plan (BFP) aims to develop a national road map to improve biodiversity funding through various sources, to find additional resources, increase cost efficiency and prevent future expenses. Stakeholders to participate in the above mentioned process in order to ensure successful implementation of planned actions is also very important.
The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Environment Protection and the Ministry of Agriculture and UNDP, 
The representatives of the relevant structures of the Ministry, non-governmental and international organizations working on biodiversity issues attended the meeting, which was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture together with the UNDP.
