Minister pays a visit to the United States

Under the frame of his visit to the US, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the USAID representative Margot Ellis. At the meeting, the two sides have been focused on the design of a new agricultural project.
The project includes technical assistance and grant components. The meeting was held with the Head of the US Department of Homeland Security Department, Barbara Pitkin. The sides discussed issues related to the implementation of the next phase of the project of the Agency of Protected Areas. At the meeting with the Honorary Consul of Georgia, David Shimp, the sides discussed the importance of engagement of the academic and scientific circles in the forest sector and implementation of the new project.
Levan Davitashvili noted, that the priority of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is the improvement of the current situation in the forest sector and approval and implementation of the Forest Code.
At the initiative of the employees of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Levan Davitashvili was invited to the World Bank office, where the Minister spoke about the priorities of the Ministry, drew his attention to the future plans and introduced the participants with the vision of the Georgian Government on the economic conditions and sustainable development principles, on how to improve the well-being and quality of life of the Georgian population and other related issues. 
Within the frame of the visit, Levan Davitashvili made a speech at the reception ceremony held by the US-Georgia Business Council and the United States - Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, the Minister underlined the importance of improving trade relations between the countries.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the United States. David Bakradze, Envoy Giorgi Tsikolia and First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze participated in the meetings held in Washington DC. The visit of the Georgian delegation will be over on February 24 in Washington.
