Levan Davitashvili: " State of emergency does not mean to impose restrictions on purchases of foodstuffs’’
“The curfew is not implemented in our country, accordingly, freedom of movement is not restricted or limited. Retail stores will further continue to operate in the usual manner, restrictions will not be imposed on customers for purchasing the foodstuffs” the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili said.
“ Today, what happens in our grocery stores ( panic buying of food ) causes a problem for the supermarket itself. Some products may not be available for customers in a few hours time, which is unreasonable, as we are fully stocked with food supplies. This will create problems to the population, we are well aware, that such a crowded setting increases coronavirus epidemic risks. We just urge you to keep the feeling of solidarity and continue to buy food like we did it before " - Levan Davitashvili said.
According to the Minister, as a result of the active work of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, as instructed by the Prime Minister, there will be no delay in the food supply in the country. We have sufficient supply, Larsi Customs Checkpoint is open and food products will be provided in the country in the usual manner.
“ We have developed a pricing mechanism to insure 9 most consumed products. We held meetings with the representatives of almost all sectors. We state, that along with those nine products, the price of bread will not increase. Once again, I would like to point out, that food supply will be guaranteed in the country and there is no reason to panic” Levan Davitashvili said.
