Nino Tandilashvili: "Kazbegi Customs Checkpoint is opened and there is no problem in relation of supply of food products "
"Kazbegi Customs Checkpoint has been opened and vehicles loaded with foodstuffs are entering the country without problems" said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili. The Deputy Minister got acquainted with the current situation while visiting Kazbegi municipality along with the head of the customs department, Mamuka Jangulashvili.
“ We, as state agencies engaged in the road clearing activities, solved the problem in the shortest possible time. As a result of the active work of the National Environmental Agency, avalanches were artificially removed and road cleaning works were carried out. Stepantsminda-Larsi road is opened. At this stage, foodstuffs are being freely imported into the country ”Nino Tandilashvili said.
The Head of the Customs Department, Mamuka Jangulashvili noted, that Kazbegi Customs Office operates 24 hours a day, therefore, 450-500 trucks loaded with food products are allowed to enter the country.
“The cars aren’t stopped at the customs checkpoint. It is important, that there is no delay in the supply of products in the country, accordingly, there is no shortages. I would point out, that all drivers’ health condition is inspected at the customs check-point ”Mamuka Jangurashvili said.
It is noteworthy, that, the Interagency Coordination Council is established and led by the Prime Minister of Georgia to prevent the possible spread of the new coronavirus, under which, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture takes responsibility for overseeing the management, logistics and transportation of food supplies. The Ministry works 24 hours a day in the aforementioned directions.
