Levan Davitashvili: "We have sufficient supply of wheat/flour in the country, there is no delay in the wheat flour production"

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture,  Levan Davitashvili together with the First Deputy Minister, Giorgi Khanishvili held a visit to the largest wheat /flour mill plant LLC “Geomill”, whereby, government officials received the information on the existing wheat flour supplies.

 

It is noteworthy, that, the Interagency Coordination Council was established and led by the Prime Minister of Georgia to prevent the possible spread of a new Covid-19 in the country, under which, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture was assigned to oversee the management, logistics and transportation of food supplies.

 

 “We have   sufficient supply of wheat/flour in the country, there is no delay in the wheat flour production, furthermore, under the frame of the "State Program for Preservation of the Prices on Essential Foodstuffs", the mills are provided with an opportunity to create more supplies and maintain the stable price on wheat flour ”Levan Davitashvili said.

 

According to the Minister, daily monitoring is held on the production and price of wheat flour in all large mill plants across the country.

 

The General Director of LLC. ‘’Geomell’’ Besik Bezhashvili noted, that existing supplies, as well as enterprise capacity enables the company to deliver the wheat flour in the local market without delay.

 

It was mentioned, that the capacity of the mill is about 500 tons per day. The production is sold through the distribution network across the country.
The mill is equipped with Swiss-German advanced machinery. The plant can store up to 35,000 tons of wheat at a time. Wheat and flour are controlled in a laboratory, which is  equipped and shaped by modern European machinery and equipment. LLC Geomill holds ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certificates. The company employs 100 people.
