“We all acknowledge and agree, that new COVID-19 is a very difficult challenge for the whole world, including our country. We need to assume as much responsibility as possible. Business sector is required to take more responsibility. I express my gratitude to the companies for showing great responsibility, hopefully, we have lots of loyal and devoted companies, which supported us in the crisis situation, due to which, food storage was created and ensured in the country.Â

However, we have seen activities of some companies, which in my opinion are totally unacceptable, I admit, that practically, we are in war situation.Â
We continuously monitor the supply and prices of food products. We work along with the Revenue Service and the Ministry of Finance to deal with the wrongdoing. Accordingly, we have daily conversation with the representatives of the business sector. It is necessary to protect business interest, although, it is important to protect public interest as well.

The speculative growth in prices have been observed in the region, although, price mechanism was developed by Georgian government to subsidize the difference between a fixed exchange rate, and I believe it will regulate the situation in the nearest future.

There will be even more confirmed cases of coronavirus; We have information, that certain products have become more expensive, we see reality, therefore, we are working to protect the interests of our population in different directions "- said Levan Davitashvili.
